Squarespace Overview
Squarespace is our highest-rated website builder for resumes, scoring 4.7 out of 5 overall. The best resumes are neat, clear, and minimal – qualities that Squarespace’s industry-leading designs serve up in spades.
It one of the easiest builders to use, and Squarespace makes it simple for potential employees to get in touch via contact forms and social links. With a starting price of $16 per month, it’s certainly not the cheapest platform. However, there is an option to pay monthly, so you can choose to only set your site live during the months you’re looking for work.

Squarespace Features
Squarespace sits in second place (behind Wix) for website features, scoring 4.6 out of 5 in our testing. Even though it missis out on the top spot, Squarespace’s rating has improved slightly since last year’s score of 4.5, with the builder now offering greater functionality and enhanced third-party integrations.
While Squarespace does have good built-in features, these are the ones stand out for resumes specifically:
- Editable contact form – as well as having a selection of beautiful contact forms to inject straight into your Contact page, Squarespace also offers the ability to book an “appointment,” which could be an impressive way to catch the attention of employers.
- Good SEO – want to be found via Google? Squarespace has all the features you need to set you up for success. The recent Squarespace Refresh promised some exciting AI-supported SEO features to be released next year.
- Download option – upload a PDF resume to your site for easy printing.
Squarespace’s blogging features are also excellent, including social sharing, flexible post display options, and podcasts in its suite of tools.
Squarespace Design Features
It’s no surprise that Squarespace is the best for designing resumes, earning a chart-topping 4.7 out of 5 in our design flexibility research.
The “Personal & CV” category has 17 high-quality templates ready for you to build an online resume with. You can easily tweak any of Squarespace’s other industry templates to suit your needs.
Plus, with Squarespace version 7.1, it’s easy to add any “missing” elements to your site once you reach the editor.
Squarespace Pricing
Squarespace websites have a high-end feel for a price that’s pretty middle-of-the-road. In our value for money testing, Squarespace scores 3.5 out of 5, placing it in third position.
If you want your resume site live all year round, then we’d recommend you pay annually for the Personal plan ($16 per month). However, if you opt to pay month-by-month (until you find a job), this jumps up to $23 per month.
The average time to find a new job is roughly three months, so paying month-by-month seems pretty sensible if you aren’t looking for a long-term commitment.
Though Squarespace isn’t the cheapest option on this list, it can feel like a worthy investment for the quality of the site and the chance to land more clients or a better job.
You can try out any plan in full with a 14-day free trial (get your site up and running and see if Squarespace clicks with you and your needs). We also have an exclusive Squarespace coupon code for our readers that will save you 10% on the cost of any plan.
Squarespace Ease of Use
Along with Wix, Squarespace is one of the easiest resume website builders to use, scoring 4.4 out of 5 in our ease of use testing. When trying out Squarespace ourselves, its beginner-friendly editor and stylish design elements made building a resume a breeze. Its grid-style editing keeps you from creating anything too messy, and if we stumbled into any problems, Squarespace’s live chat and Help Center were readily available.
If designing a website isn’t your thing, we’d recommend checking out Squarespace Blueprint – the guided design system asks you a few simple questions and produces a stunning template that is personalized to your needs!

#2. Wix

Pricing range: free – $159 per month
Wix

Free plan available
Paid Plans: $16 - $159 / month
Pros

Cons

- Limited features on free plan
Wix Overview
While Wix may only take silver with its overall score of 4.5 out of 5, it is the best option if you’re looking for powerful website features, such as a built-in marketing suite and social media integration.
We’ve mentioned SEO a couple of times already, but if you want recruiters to find you (e.g. by searching “Marketing Executive Chicago”) rather than you finding them, strong SEO is essential – and Wix is the website builder we’d most recommend for the job. We’ll take a closer look at Wix’s SEO features in the next section.
Wix Gallery
Wix Features
Of all the website builders we tested for this list, Wix offers the best website features with a near-perfect category score of 4.9 out of 5.
For resumes, Wix provides great SEO features to help you promote your website online to possible employers, such as SEO page settings and sitemaps.
- SEO page settings: You can tweak SEO settings, such as meta tags and URLs, for individual pages or a group of pages to help search engines understand the content when crawling through your website
- Sitemaps: A sitemap outlines the structure of your website – it provides search engines with a list of your site’s pages
When testing Wix ourselves, the SEO dashboard prompted us to use Wix’s SEO assistant to get started. After a few questions about our website, Wix suggested personalized SEO recommendations to help the website climb Google’s rankings, rather than just giving general advice and guidance. For example, Squarespace provides an SEO checklist but it’s not tailored to your website or business needs.
Other Wix features to set your resume apart include:
- Over 100 fonts to choose from
- Contact forms and testimonial boxes
- Visuals such as image and video backgrounds, galleries, and various scroll effects
You can also add tons of extra functionality via Wix’s App Market, or choose from pre-designed elements, including social links, contact forms, and FAQ sections – all totally customizable.
Wix Design Features
While Squarespace steals the show when it comes to design, Wix puts up a fair fight and sits in second place (alongside Webflow), scoring 4.4 out of 5 for design.
Wix has 19 templates tagged as “Resumes & CVs.” Not all of them are great, but there is a large selection to choose from.
Plus, Wix makes it incredibly intuitive when it comes to customizing your design, too – simply click and hold elements to drag them into place. Just be sure to toggle over to the mobile version regularly to make sure everything still displays well across other devices.
Wix Pricing
Unfortunately for Wix, our value for money testing is where the website builder takes a knock. Wix scores a low 2.7 out of 5 in this category, making it the weakest option on this list if affordability and value are important factors for you.
Its disappointing score is mostly due to industry-wide price increases. Other builders, such as Squarespace, improved what’s on offer to match the rising costs but Wix’s plans have remained largely the same since last year.
The good news is that Wix has a free plan – unlike Squarespace – but we wouldn’t recommend this option for a resume because it’s not the most professional-looking. You’ll get Wix ads displaying across your site, and can’t connect a custom domain name.
The cheapest ad-free plan is $16 per month when you pay annually, or $23 per month when paid monthly. This is the same as Squarespace, which we found leaned towards the pricier end of the platforms in this ranking but you get a lot more bang for your buck.
Wix Ease of Use
As we’ve already mentioned, Wix is very easy to use and one we’d recommend for people of all skill levels, from total beginners to web design experts. It shares the top position in our ease of use research with Squarespace – both builders score 4.4 out of 5.
Wix’s drag-and-drop editor means customizing your website takes no time at all, and its range of high-quality features, such as SEO tools and marketing capabilities, make it easy to promote and share your online resume across a variety of channels, such as social media.

#3. GoDaddy
Best value for money resume builder
Pricing range: free – $16.99 per month
GoDaddy
Best value for money resume builder
- Fast and simple set up
- Low price plans
- ADI website builder
Free plan available
Paid Plans: $6.99 - $469.99 / month
Pros
- Great value with a free plan
- Can buy and transfer over domain names
- Efficient and user-friendly
Cons
- Lack of resume specific templates
- SEO features unavailable on free plan
- Restrictive block elements
GoDaddy Overview
GoDaddy takes third place with an overall score of 4.2 out of 5 in our resume website builder research.
Looking for a job is hard, and we understand that you may not want to spend any extra time making a resume website as well. So, if speed and simplicity are your number one priority, then GoDaddy has you covered since it’s our most time-efficient builder!
GoDaddy Gallery
GoDaddy Features
GoDaddy’s website features have improved since last year’s research, seeing its rating increase by 20% from 3 out of 5 to 3.6 out of 5 in 2023.
Some of the features GoDaddy offers that make it great for resumes include:
- Allowing you to create content on site
- Social posts
However, when compared with the two providers above it, GoDaddy is a bit bare bones and lacks the sheer range of features that Wix and Squarespace have – especially on its free plan.
One big downside to GoDaddy is the fact its SEO features are locked behind the premium plans (Basic, Premium, Commerce, and Commerce Plus), so you’ll need to upgrade if you want to unlock the SEO Wizard tool to optimize your pages and track your rankings.
It still has all the essentials for a resume builder – like downloadable PDFs and contact forms – so you won’t be left entirely stranded.
GoDaddy Design Features
GoDaddy scores 4 out of 5 for its design features, seeing a slight drop from last year’s rating of 4.3 out of 5. Despite having a user-friendly ADI builder to help with design, GoDaddy’s editor can hold you back at times. For example, image blocks can only be moved or resized within a set of site-restricted parameters.
The number of templates on offer are also quite disappointing. While it’s quick and relatively easy to alter an existing one, it would be nice if a specific range was available.
That said, GoDaddy’s ADI platform does a great job of quickly creating a personalized website for you, cutting out any design stress that comes with building a site from scratch – perfect if you’re in a rush!
GoDaddy Pricing
Of these five resume website builders, GoDaddy is the best value for money, scoring 4.3 out of 5 in our research.
GoDaddy excels because it’s a very affordable option. It offers a free plan, but the premium plans are very reasonable as well, starting as low as $9.99 per month for the first year, with an additional 30-day free trial and money-back guarantee! In comparison, Wix’s premium plans come with a 14-day free trial.
With GoDaddy being so time-efficient as well, it’s a great option for those on the job hunt immediately – you won’t have to break the bank to upgrade to a paid plan.
GoDaddy Ease of Use
GoDaddy’s main selling point is how quick it is to make a resume. If you don’t want to be bogged down and spend ages designing and getting to grips with an editor, GoDaddy offers a time-efficient Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) builder to get your resume online quicker than its competition.
Due to this easy route of website building, GoDaddy scores 4.1 out of 5 for ease of use, putting it just behind Wix and Squarespace because they offer greater control within their editors.

#4. Hostinger
Best for simple online resumes
Pricing range: $2.99 per month
Hostinger - Web Builder
Best for simple online resumes
- Cheapest plan to start
- Beginner-friendly editor
- Unique AI tools
Paid Plans: $2.69 - $39.99 / month
Pros
- AI website builder
- Single plan keeps things simple
- Great value for money
Cons
- No free plan or free trial
- No room for scalability
- Limited creative control
Hostinger Overview
Hostinger is just shy of a podium position with an overall score of 3.7 out of 5. The reason Hostinger doesn’t quite make the top three is because of its simplistic editor and features, meaning you’ll struggle to make something really unique.
While Hostinger is the cheapest option, you get what you pay for – a simple website builder that lacks the power of our leading choices, like Squarespace and Wix. That said, you don’t need many bells and whistles for a resume, so if you’re looking for an affordable option, Hostinger could be for you.
Hostinger Gallery
Hostinger Features
For website features, Hostinger comes in last place with a score of 2.9 out of 5. There’s only one plan to choose from and no app market for additional functionality, so you’re stuck with what you get from the start. Hostinger’s plan offers basic ecommerce features, online booking tools, and unlimited storage. You can also use its marketing integrations, such as Google Analytics, to help monitor your traffic and gather insights.
One thing that is worth mentioning with Hostinger is its growing suite of AI tools – we especially loved the unique AI heatmap tool that lets you track where website visitors are spending their time on your online resume.
Hostinger Design Features
Hostinger is also the weakest option when it comes to design, scoring a low 3.5 out of 5 in our research. While its drag-and-drop editor makes it easy to adjust your website pages to your liking, it lacks the wide range and variety of templates and design elements that Wix and Squarespace provide.
You can choose from 150 designer-made templates, or opt for Hostinger’s AI website builder, which will create a custom template for you based on your answers to a few questions – similar to Squarespace Blueprint.
Hostinger Pricing
If affordability and great value for money are important to you, and you don’t mind sacrificing features and design, then consider Hostinger. Hostinger scores 4.2 out of 5 in our value for money research, putting it just behind our best value option, GoDaddy.
Hostinger offers a single plan that starts at $2.99 per month (if you sign up to a 48-month subscription). This cheap price is unmatched by any of the other builders on this list, but Hostinger’s renewal price does jump to $6.99 (after a two-year term). At this point, you’d be better off with the similarly priced GoDaddy.
Hostinger Ease of Use
Hostinger scores 3.9 out of 5 in our ease of use category, putting it comfortably above last position where Webflow sits with its score of 2.1 out of 5. Still, Hostinger remains below the speedy builder GoDaddy which scores 4.1 out of 5 for its ease of use.
To put it simply, Hostinger is a pretty straightforward builder to wrap your head around, but not as user-friendly as Squarespace.
Hostinger’s drag-and-drop editor is familiar and easy to pick up for the majority of users. For a resume website builder, it’s unlikely that you’ll need to create anything too complicated within the editor! But, if you do need an extra helping hand, Hostinger’s AI builder can take the hassle of building and designing off your plate.
However, as we’ve already mentioned, Hostinger’s customization options are limited when compared with the top three. So, if you do want total creative control, we’d recommend looking higher up on this list.

#5. Webflow
Best for total creative control
Pricing range: free – $212 per month
Webflow
Best for total creative control
- Suitable for designers
- Good for complex resumes
- Over 2,000 templates
Free plan available
Paid Plans: $14 / month
Pros
- Ideal for users with building experience
- Impressive customization options
- Immense design library
Cons
- Steep learning curve to use
- Restrictive free plan
- Poor value for money plans
Webflow Overview
Completing our list of the best resume website builders is Webflow, scoring an overall 3.5 out of 5. This is an ideal option for people with previous web building experience, designers with a degree of technical knowledge, or people with plenty of time to learn the ins and outs of Webflow.
In our opinion, building an online resume shouldn’t be a time-consuming task – after all, you want to focus the majority of your time on prepping for potential job interviews. That said, Webflow’s advanced editor gives you complete control, which could make it the perfect fit for certain career resumes, such as graphic designers or creatives.
Webflow Gallery
Webflow Features
Webflow’s website features don’t stand out, scoring a low 3 out of 5. Its plans offer the basic features you’d expect, such as mobile optimization and unlimited backups, but its free plan will feel limiting, even for an online resume.
The free plan restricts your website traffic, allows a maximum of two pages, and 50 form submissions over your site’s lifetime. You’ll also be stuck with Webflow ads and a Webflow domain name. To improve your resume’s professionalism by removing ads and adding a custom domain, you’ll need to upgrade to the Basic plan ($14 per month, billed annually).
Webflow Design Features
As we’ve mentioned, Webflow offers a high level of customization and editing power. For this reason, it scores 4.4 out of 5 for its design features, putting it in second place behind Wix.
That said, Webflow’s barrier to entry is high, catering to designers and professionals with its suite of features as opposed to complete beginners.
Still, if you’re willing to power through its steep learning curve, Webflow offers over 2,000 industry-related templates to choose from – and you can filter these by keywords such as “resume” or “CV.” While this might seem daunting, you can tweak any Webflow theme using Webflow’s pre-designed elements or downloadable libraries.
Webflow Pricing
Webflow is let down when it comes to pricing, scoring 2.9 out of 5 in our value for money testing, which puts it slightly above Wix. The low score is primarily because of Webflow’s difficulty level and lack of unique features – we’d recommend opting for a more user-friendly option like Squarespace.
Webflow’s six premium plans range from $14 per month to $212 per month (billed annually), but there’s also a free plan to start with, so you can test out Webflow’s advanced editor and features before you upgrade.
Webflow Ease of Use
Unfortunately, Webflow is the hardest builder to use, scoring 2.1 out of 5 in our ease of use testing. It doesn’t cater to beginners at all, making it a lacklustre option for resume builders since the majority of people will want to set one up quickly and without difficulty.
When researching the builder ourselves, we found Webflow’s section-based editor unnecessarily complex, and its overwhelming interface left us feeling completely confused by the end.
So, if you’re looking for a simple resume website builder, consider GoDaddy instead. But, if Webflow’s advanced controls are appealing, we’d recommend that you first try its free plan before committing to a paid plan.

Other Online Resume Builder Options
In this post, we’ve focused on online resume builder tools that can help you build a resume website. There are three key reasons for this:
Why We Recommend Building a Resume Website
- They help you stand out
Trying to get a job can be a frustrating process, knowing that you’re qualified for a role, but need to stand out from the hundreds of other submitted resumes.
A resume website is a sure-fire way to help you stand out from the crowd. After all, up to 40% of recruiters won’t consider a candidate if they’re lacking an online presence, so a website is a great way to consolidate all of your information in one place.
A resume website can be especially helpful if you’re applying for a role involving creative or digital skills, too — here’s tangible evidence of what you can put together!
- They help you get found
Resume websites help recruiters actually come to you. With good SEO, you can be found by profession and location. This means you could continue to receive opportunities, even when you aren’t looking for them.
- They help you display your work
If you choose to develop your resume into a portfolio, or increase your profile with a blog, you have these options with a resume website.
Online Resume Builders (for PDF Resumes)
If you are only looking for a tool to craft a stylish PDF resume, here are our top six recommendations:
In an ideal world, a stylish PDF and sleek resume website is a winning combo, so why not do both?
Our Testing Methodology
To bring you accurate recommendations and guidance when choosing a resume website builder, we put each website builder through rigorous testing.
Our research process provides us with valuable insights and data across a range of categories, such as website features and ease of use. We then use these scores to create our rankings, which you’ve seen in our comparison table.
You can read more about how we determine the best resume website builders below:
- Website features – weighting: 18%
Online resumes need the support of impressive website features, such as SEO (to encourage more website visitors) and marketing tools (to help you target the right connections). We make sure to look at the number and quality of features that each website builder offers, with a specific focus on things like app markets, blogging tools, internationalization, domain names, email addresses, storage space, and site speed.
- Design flexibility – weighting: 37%
A resume is the first impression your new employer has of you, so it’s important that your website looks the part. When testing a website builder’s design flexibility, we look at the templates, theme choices, design support options (e.g. ADI), UX, and the quality of its image and mobile editor.
- Value for money – weighting: 10%
If you’re building an online resume, the likelihood is you’re after a job. Because of this, we know value for money is an important category. We analyze the average pricing plan of a website builder, the quality of features for the price you pay, and whether or not there’s a free trial.
- Help and support – weighting: 5%
When researching a website builder’s help and support, we pay close attention to restore options, customer support channels (e.g. live chat or email), and the quality of its help center or knowledge base. We also take into account the support options offered on the lowest monthly plan, or whether you have to pay for additional help.
- Customer satisfaction – weighting: 5%
We know that customers trust other customers, which is why part of our research process focuses on how other users feel about a website builder. We review online comments and ratings, overall brand recognition, market analysis, UX, and whether or not a customer would recommend the builder to others.
- Ease of use – weighting: 25%
After design, ease of use is our biggest priority when it comes to resume website builders. We recognise the need to get online quickly and easily, so we get everyday people and businesses (such as artists and entrepreneurs) to test the builders and share their feedback.

FAQs
You’ll want your resume to be equivalent to one page if you’re just starting out in your career, and it can grow alongside your experience. For example, a two-page resume for a decade-long career makes sense. If it’s six pages, you’ve gone too far! Remember, you still want to capture an employer’s eye with your online resume, so don’t overwhelm them with walls of text or unnecessary website elements.
