Wix Pricing 2024: Which Pricing Plan Is Best (and Worst)?
Our independent research projects and impartial reviews are funded in part by affiliate commissions, at no extra cost to our readers. Learn more
Thinking about choosing Wix as your website builder? Wix revamped its pricing model in July 2023, and there are now four paid plans to choose from. Pricing starts from $16 per month and goes up to $159 per month (billed annually). The Light plan is the cheapest option at $16 per month and gives you an ad-free site. This is ideal for small-scale businesses or informational websites, such as portfolios and blogs.
To sell online, you must upgrade to one of the three ecommerce-specific plans – Core, Business, and Business Elite. The cheapest is the Core plan, which costs $27 per month and is great for online stores that are just starting out because the plan comes with basic ecommerce features. But we’d recommend the Business plan ($32/mo) or Business Elite plan ($159/mo) if you’re looking for a scalable option or advanced functionality, such as unlimited storage and product reviews.
In addition to these four plans, Wix offers a custom plan for large enterprises. But, if you aren’t sure where to start, you can stay on Wix’s free plan for as long as you’d like.
Here’s a look at all of Wix’s price plans, billed annually:

You can choose to pay for your Wix plan in two ways: monthly or annually. If you opt for the annual subscription, you’ll save money in the long run – as you can see from our savings column in the table.
Should you go for an annual plan?
You can see from the table above that there’s money to be saved by paying for your plan upfront for a year (or more), rather than month to month. We totally get it – signing up for a year can feel intimidating. But the reality is that you’ll probably want your site for at least a year, and in most cases a whole lot longer! If your concern is committing to Wix as a platform, remember:
- The free plan is perfect for testing out how Wix works, and building a site you like, without paying a cent
- There’s a 14-day money-back guarantee with all premium plans, so you have two weeks to try the additional features, then change your mind
We’ve tested Wix thoroughly across different areas, including design, ease of use, and features. Thanks to a combined score of 4.8 out of 5, Wix is our top website builder overall. But, when it comes to value for money, Wix scores a 3 out of 5 in our research. This is a drop of almost 12% since last year’s analysis because our scoring algorithm has adjusted to reflect the marketwide price increases and Wix’s plan changes.
While Wix’s value for money score isn’t too impressive, you get a lot of bang for your buck with Wix’s plans, and Wix does offer a free plan so you can test things out for yourself.
Its website features, such as keyword research and email marketing tools, are the best on the market, scoring 4.8 out of 5 in our research. This gives businesses a ton of power and control. So, although Wix might not be the cheapest website builder we’ve tested, you certainly get a lot for your money, and we’ll be sharing exactly what Wix’s plans cost, what features you get access to, how cost-effective the plans are, and how Wix compares to other website builders.

Is the Free Plan Really Free?
Yes. Wix offers a 14-day free trial on premium plans and a completely free plan to get started with, which includes up to 500MB of storage space. In many ways, the free plan is great – there’s no time limit, and you can build and publish your site without paying a cent.
Despite only scoring 3 out of 5 in our value for money testing, Wix’s free plan is a real standout and useful for businesses on a budget or just starting out.
You don’t need any payment details to sign up for Wix’s free plan, either – all you do is create an account with your email address, and you can start building your site. But we do warn users against sticking to the free plan for too long because it limits growth and isn’t too professional-looking for visitors. The free plan provides limited features, and your website will have Wix ads on each page, which isn’t ideal for businesses.
There are also a range of other drawbacks, which we’ll cover below.
5 Things You Should Know About the Free Plan
- You can’t use your own domain name
- You’ll have Wix ads displayed on your site
- You can’t sell online
- You only get limited features – for example, you’ll have no access to Google Analytics which means you won’t be able to track your website’s performance with this tool
- You receive basic customer support – priority support is only available on premium plans so you might be left stranded if you need a helping hand
Here’s a demo website that one of our team made with the free Wix plan, which shows some of this in action: https://carnagelucy.wixsite.com/lucyscupcakes
So, do we recommend Wix’s free plan? Well, sort of – but only because it’s free. If you want a successful, professional, or popular website, you’ll need a better plan than the free version.
The free plan is really only suitable for playing and testing. If you’re at all serious about your site, then picking a paid plan is a much smarter choice (although you can always take your time building on the free plan, and then upgrade).
For the more price-conscious among you, the cheapest website builder plan is the $16 per month Light plan. But, if you want to sell products through your site, the cheapest ecommerce plan is the $27 per month Core plan.
Does Wix Have a Free Trial?
As an alternative to Wix’s free plan, which offers limited features and puts ads on your website, you can opt for a 14-day free trial of one of Wix’s premium plans. Now, it’s not technically a free trial and more of a refund period, so you’ll have to enter payment details to kick things off.
That being said, Wix’s free trial is a great way to see if a certain plan suits your website or business, especially if you’re thinking about taking the leap away from your current website builder. You’ll get to experience and try out the powerful features that are usually locked behind premium plans, such as increased storage and advanced analytics.
Wix’s Pricing Plans: Which is Best for You?
So, how much does Wix cost? If you’re looking to pay for a Wix plan, there are four premium plans to choose between, along with the custom Enterprise plan for leading businesses.
Wix reworked its pricing plans in July 2023, replacing its “Connect Domain” and “Combo” plans with “Light” and “Core”. Wix previously split its plans into website building and online stores, but the two have now been merged, meaning only one premium plan lacks ecommerce features.
Let’s take a look at each plan individually to see what you get for your money.
Light | Core | Business | Business Elite | Enterprise | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Price/month (paid annually) | $16 | $27 | $32 | $159 | Custom pricing |

Storage space relates to the amount of content you can hold on your site (pages, blog posts, images, etc.), and still have your site work normally. Your site won’t suddenly get “full” and block you from uploading more, but as you get closer to the limit, you’ll notice it gets slower. Your website could also experience downtime or time-out visitors.
Here’s some context around storage space limits:
- This high-res image (not compressed) is 2.3MB, or 0.115% of the Light plan storage.
- The homepage of this Wix-made site is 81.86MB, or 4.10% of the Light plan storage.
- This post is 666.25KB, or 0.033% of the Light plan storage.
Wix scores an impressive 4.8 out of 5 for its help and support, making it our top choice alongside Squarespace and IONOS.
English-speaking customers can request a callback 24/7, but you’ll need to upgrade to Wix’s top premium plan (Business Elite) to unlock priority support. However, all Wix plans can enjoy 24/7 support via phone and live chat.
Light Plan ($16.00 per month)
- Best for small and informational websites
- This plan is good for you if you’re just starting out and don’t need to sell products
The Light plan is best for small and informational websites, such as blogs, portfolios, and resumes. While it’s an upgrade on Wix’s free plan since it removes ads, the Light plan’s features are still fairly limited:
- Free domain for 1st year, increasing your site’s professionalism and recognition
- 2GB of storage space
- Basic marketing suite, capable of simple promotion
Wix’s Light plan has the same starting price as Squarespace’s cheapest plan, costing just $16 per month (billed annually). But it’s still a considerable dent in your budget, especially if you’re only looking to build a simple website. You might be better off with a cheaper website builder, such as GoDaddy (plans start at $9.99/mo) or Hostinger ($2.99/mo).
Pros
✔️ Great for personal and informational websites
✔️ Removes ads from the free plan
✔️ 24/7 help and support
Cons
❌ Limited scalability
❌ No ecommerce features, meaning you can’t sell online
❌ No access to website analytics, making it harder to track your site’s performance and engage with your audience
Is the Light Plan Right for You?
We recommend Wix’s Light plan if you’re looking to build a professional-looking personal website or want to promote your business (and do little else). While the plan removes ads, you’ll only have access to basic marketing tools and analytics, and you won’t be able to sell products.
Ella wanted a place online where she could promote her band’s music, videos, and gig dates to fans. Her website, nazandella.com, uses the Light plan – this is the perfect plan for business promotion since its limited features won’t have an impact on Ella’s primary goal. Plus, the custom domain and lack of Wix ads make it look super professional, which reassures website visitors.
Core Plan ($27 per month)
- Best for small online stores
- This plan is good for you if you’re an ecommerce beginner
The Core plan is the best value for money plan Wix offers and an ideal starting point for online stores, replacing the previous “Combo” plan. You get access to everything on the Light plan and it unlocks ecommerce functionality, plus:
- 50GB of storage space
- 5 collaborators
- Basic site analytics to monitor traffic and performance
- Basic ecommerce tools – sell up to 50,000 products, accept payments, and sell on marketplaces/social channels
- Customer accounts to improve the checkout experience
- Abandoned cart recovery to help retain customers
- No transaction fees
You’ll need to choose Wix’s Core plan if you want to sell online, but take note that this plan is only a few dollars cheaper than our top-rated ecommerce website builder Shopify, which starts at $29 per month! We recommend comparing Wix and Shopify to find the right fit for your store.
That said, Wix has a number of online store templates you can choose from to make setting up and getting started easier.
Pros
✔️ Access to basic marketing features, including analytics to help with engagement
✔️ 24/7 help and support
✔️ Unlock ecommerce features, including abandoned cart recovery, discounts, and selling via socials
Cons
❌ Limited sales tools – can’t add multiple currencies or product reviews
Is the Core Plan Right for You?
Wix’s Core plan is fine for starting out, but it shouldn’t be a long-term solution for your business because its stripped-back features are only suitable for small stores. If you’re already selling online with an alternative builder, like Shopify, the Core plan could be a slightly cheaper option if you’re looking to keep your costs down.
However, you’ll want to upgrade to the Business plan or above as soon as sales start to pick up. That being said, the Core plan is a decent choice if your website is in the early stages of growth since you won’t need all the bells and whistles of more advanced plans. Plus, you’ll be able to better engage with your target audience thanks to access to the Site Booster app and website analytics.
Sam started out with a photography portfolio on the Light plan, but he’s recently received a lot of interest from potential customers looking to purchase his images as prints. Because of this, Sam upgraded to the Core plan to unlock helpful ecommerce features and start accepting payments. Since Sam’s store is new and only just starting out, these basic sales tools will be enough to get the ball rolling.
Business Plan ($32 per month)
- Best for expanding businesses
- This plan is good for you if your business needs advanced functionality and support
We recommend upgrading to the Business plan once your store is getting steady sales. It’s time to level up your ecommerce efforts, and you’re in good hands with Wix. In fact, Wix takes second place in our ecommerce website builder research, sitting just behind Shopify.
You’ll unlock everything on the Core plan, plus:
- 100GB of storage space
- Automated sales tax calculator
- Advanced shipping, including USPS discounts, to help manage orders
- Improve customer trust by adding product reviews to your website
- Display products in multiple currencies to engage with a wider customer base
The Business plan is a real improvement on the Core plan, giving users more power and tools to help manage your website and track performance. It’s also considerably cheaper than other advanced ecommerce plans provided by alternative builders, costing just $32 per month (billed annually). For example, if you want to upgrade from Shopify’s cheapest plan, your next option is the $79 per month Shopify plan, more than double what Wix’s Business plan costs.
Pros
✔️ Affordable ecommerce-friendly plan, recommended by Wix
✔️ Unlock advanced shipping and product reviews for your store
✔️ Add multiple currencies and calculate sales tax automatically
Cons
❌ Limited storage space at 100GB
❌ Stuck with the same basic analytics as the cheaper Wix plans
Is the Business Plan Right for You?
As we’ve already mentioned, Wix’s Business plan is best if your website is already growing successfully. We wouldn’t recommend this as a starting point for any new website or online store. But, if your business needs advanced marketing, branding, and ecommerce tools, the Business plan could be the right fit for you.
Sam’s photography is selling well and selling quickly, creating a major revenue stream that he needs to manage. Upgrading to the Business plan is the next step in Sam’s online store journey, unlocking enhanced ecommerce features, including shipping discounts and a sales tax calculator. This plan will help Sam’s website expand and handle the growing sales.
Business Elite Plan ($159 per month)
- Best for large-scale businesses
- This plan is good for you if your online store is growing rapidly
The Business Elite plan is Wix’s most expensive premium plan, costing a mighty $159 per month (billed annually). But, in comparison to other online store builders, Wix’s high-end plans are fairly reasonable. Shopify, our top-rated ecommerce website builder, has a plan that costs $299 per month (billed annually).
Wix’s Business Elite plan is a considerable step up from the cheaper Business plan. You get access to everything on the Business plan, plus:
- Unlimited storage space
- 15 collaborators, which is helpful for large businesses to delegate work
- Advanced features, including marketing tools, analytics, and ecommerce
- Priority VIP phone support so you can skip the queue
- Retain customers with loyalty programs to share discounts, coupons, and rewards
- Collect up to 3,000 product reviews to help improve customer trust
- Sell unlimited products with Modalyst dropshipping
For access to these advanced features, the price has to match and we recognize that the Business Elite plan is a very expensive option to consider. For this reason, we’d only recommend this plan for very large and growing businesses.
Pros
✔️ Unlimited storage space for larger businesses
✔️ Advanced marketing and ecommerce tools
✔️ Unlimited video hours to stream content online
✔️ Create custom reports to help gather insights and data on your audience
✔️ Priority customer support so you can skip the queue
✔️ Add a loyalty program to your store
Cons
❌ Very expensive plan
❌ Not a beginner-friendly option
Is the Business Elite Plan Right for You?
The Business Elite plan is a real upgrade to streamline, refine, and grow your online store. If your business is making good money and expanding rapidly, the steep price increase from the Business to Business Elite plan is easy to justify. Still, for such a high price, we’d recommend Wix’s 14-day free trial to see if this plan is worth it for your business needs. Alternatively, if you’re looking to make the switch from pricier ecommerce options, such as Shopify or BigCommerce, then the Business Elite plan is very affordable.
With the help of Wix’s premium plans, Sam’s photography store consistently hits over 100 transactions per month. Upgrading to the Business plan helped Sam level up his business, but now he needs to streamline processes and workflows so he can spend time on other priorities. With the Business Elite plan, Sam gains priority support, unlimited storage, and advanced sales features. The price is steep, but Sam’s store needs the additional power and he’s earning enough each month to justify the cost.
Enterprise Plan (Custom pricing)
- Best for industry leaders
- This plan is good for you if your business is at the top of its game and you need personalized support
Wix’s Enterprise plan is a powerful solution for highly successful businesses. With custom pricing, you’ll need to contact the Wix Enterprise sales team for more information on costs since the price will vary depending on your business needs.
While we can’t analyze the plan’s pricing, our research looks favorably on Wix for even offering such a custom plan to users.
You’ll get everything on the Business Elite plan, as well as additional extras:
- Unlimited collaborators
- Dedicated account manager for priority support and expert advice
- Custom templates and integrations for a plan that truly fits your website’s needs
Pros
✔️ Tailored plan to suit your business needs
✔️ Face no limitations when scaling your business
✔️ Dedicated account manager to help you succeed
✔️ Priority help and support
Cons
❌ Custom plan means you don’t really know what you’re paying for until you pay for it
❌ Only suitable for industry-leading businesses
Is the Enterprise Plan Right for You?
We know that the majority of our readers are small or medium-sized businesses, so it’s unlikely you’ll need to consider Wix’s Enterprise plan since it caters to large-scale brands and industry leaders. If you feel like you’ve reached the limits of the Business Elite plan, then it’s time to give Wix’s team a call! But, if you’re simply looking for a powerful home for your online store, we recommend you check out a dedicated ecommerce platform, such as Shopify.
What Is The Best Wix Premium Plan?
If you have a personal or business website that doesn’t need to sell anything online, we recommend the Light plan. At just $16 per month (billed annually), it’s great value for money and provides everything you’ll need to grow your website, such as a free domain and 2GB of storage.
If you’re planning to build an online store, we recommend the Core plan. It costs $27 per month (billed annually), and it’s perfect if you’re just starting out. But if you already own a well-established ecommerce business, it might be worth looking at the Business plan instead. It’s a little more expensive (costing $32 per month, billed annually), but you get access to more advanced tools that are specifically designed to help your online store grow.
Wix vs Competitor Pricing
There’s no denying that Wix has changed tact with its pricing over the years, doing away with cheaper plans like the Connect Domain option, which used to be around $5 per month (and is still available in the UK for £4/month). Its change to the pricing model in July 2023 saw the merging of Wix’s website builder and ecommerce plans into the four premium plans we discussed above, along with its Enterprise plan.
The Light plan is the cheapest premium option – it was previously known as the “Combo” plan, and its pricing has increased by roughly $2 per year over the last few years. It’s currently priced at $16 per month (billed annually). This is in line with industry-wide price increases and is a pretty standard starting price in 2024, especially for a top builder like Wix.
Here’s a quick breakdown of how Wix’s pricing compares with our other top-rated website builders. We’ve included each builder’s cheapest paid plan (in blue) alongside its best value for money plan (in purple):
Does being a more expensive option make Wix a bad website builder? No. The jump in price is balanced out by a wealth of impressive website features that give Wix an advantage in this category, getting a quality of features score of 5 out of 5.
When it comes to value for money, Wix scores 3 out of 5. With prices increasing across the market and a recent rework to Wix’s pricing model, Wix can be labeled as a “premium” platform, but you get a lot for your money.
Is Wix More Expensive Than Squarespace?
Wix isn’t more expensive than Squarespace – both of their starter plans cost $16 per month (billed annually). However, Squarespace came out on top in our value for money research, scoring a high 4.6 out of 5. This is largely due to Squarespace adding further functionality to its plans, such as online bookings and extra third-party integrations, to match the rising prices. That said, Wix has a pretty generous free plan, meaning you can build and publish a website without paying a cent! Squarespace, on the other hand, only offers a 14-day free trial instead of a free plan.
Shopify is another good ecommerce alternative to Wix, but it relies heavily on third-party apps (which often increase your monthly costs), while Wix excels when it comes to built-in features. With Wix, you get access to a suite of SEO features, including integration with Semrush for keyword support, as well as multilingual capabilities and email marketing tools.
And, as you can see from the table above, there are plenty of cheaper options to peruse, such as Hostinger which starts at $2.99 per month, or IONOS which has an introductory deal of just $1! However, Wix outperforms these builders in other crucial areas, such as website features, ease of use, and design capabilities.
If you want to get the most out of Wix, we’d recommend signing up for its $27 per month Core plan which gives you access to a wide range of quality tools and features (and is the cheapest plan that allows you to sell online).

Any Hidden or Additional Costs?
Beyond paying the monthly subscription fee, there are other additional Wix costs to keep in mind! Here’s a look at what you can expect:
1. Wix Auto-Renewal
Not an additional cost, but may be unexpected
This is not exactly an additional charge, but many customers don’t realize that Wix’s subscriptions are set to renew automatically at the end of your subscription period.
If you don’t want your plan to auto-renew, you can simply turn it off in your settings. Here’s how:
- Go to Billing and Payments in your Wix account
- Click Plan Actions
- Click Cancel Now
Don’t worry – clicking “Cancel Now” doesn’t actually cancel your plan there and then. Instead, it means your plan won’t automatically renew next time your subscription expires.
2. Wix Domain Name Cost (only free for first year of annual plans)
$14.95 to $24.85 per year
Wix domains are free for the first year, after which most domains cost $14.95 per year. More specialized domains can cost up to around $24.85 per year, so you can keep costs to a minimum depending on your chosen domain.
If you don’t pay for your domain, then someone else can register that domain name and use it for themselves. Your domain name’s renewal happens automatically so that you don’t accidentally lose your domain, but you can cancel the auto renew at any time when in your settings.
3. Custom Email Addresses
$4.08 per month per email address
Wix has partnered up with G Suite (basically Google’s Gmail for Business) to enable you to create custom email addresses directly within your Wix account, meaning you can pay for, set up, and configure your email addresses right inside Wix’s dashboard.
It costs $6.00 per month if you sign up for an annual plan, or $6.50 if you decide to go with a month-to-month plan.
Not sure you need a custom email? Think again! 75% of US ecommerce customers say that a professional email is an essential factor in trusting a business. When a generic email address can make 33% of buyers doubt your trustworthiness, paying out for a custom email address is worth it!
4. Add Extra for Apps
Free to $20+/month per app
While Wix has tons of free apps in the Wix App Market – 26 to be exact – it also has a number of premium apps you can add to your site. Most apps come with both a free and premium version, so you can choose which you want.
Premium apps vary in price, usually ranging between $3 and $20 per month for each app. Some apps come with a free trial, while others are paid from day one.
You can start on the free version, and then upgrade to the premium app at any time. Wix’s auto-renewal applies to premium apps, so if you don’t want to keep paying for an app, make sure to turn this off in your settings.
Thankfully, Wix’s plans come with powerful built-in features, so you’ll only need to look at third-party apps if you’re after a specific extra tool. And apps aren’t a compulsory add-on – you can simply pick and choose what you want and what you want to pay for.
5. Wix Payments Processing Fees
Depending on the payment method there are different processing fees with Wix Payments.
While using Wix Payments, processing fees for credit and debit cards (as well as Apple Pay) will be 2.9% + $0.30. Wix Payments POS is a 2.6% + $0 processing fee. This depends heavily on where the payment is being processed too, so check the Wix processing fees page to find out the exact amount for your region and payment method.

Is Wix Good Value for Money?
Wix scores 3 out of 5 in our value for money research. Rising costs across the market have had a considerable impact on Wix’s performance in this category, with the average price of builders like Wix and Squarespace rising by 30% or more.
Though Wix has a free plan that you can stay on for as long as you’d like, you’ll need to upgrade to one of its four premium plans to unlock the most powerful features, like website analytics and ecommerce functionality. The cheapest premium plan, Light, starts at $16 per month (billed annually), and the most expensive plan, Business Elite, costs $159 per month (billed annually).
To get the most out of Wix, we’d recommend starting with Wix’s Core plan which costs $27 per month (billed annually). This plan gives you additional power and ecommerce features, making it a good option for online stores.
How Can I Pay For My Wix Subscription?
Wix accepts credit card payments from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and Diners. Wix also accepts debit card payments from Visa and MasterCard. You cannot purchase a Premium Plan, domain, mailbox, or third-party app using PayPal.
How We Test Wix Pricing
We put Wix through hours of testing to determine whether it’s good value for money. Our research process looks at a variety of categories, including website features and ease of use, but when it comes to price, we analyze a few key areas.
Every website builder has recently increased its pricing, so our algorithm has been adjusted to reflect this change. Beyond reviewing Wix’s restructure of its plans, we specifically look at whether Wix has a free trial or free plan (it has both), the average pricing plan, and the quality of features you get for the price you pay.
Summary of Wix Pricing Plans
With four premium plans, a free plan, and an Enterprise plan, Wix has something for everyone. If you’re building a website, we’d recommend either starting out on the free plan or with the $16 per month Light plan. Not only is this the cheapest one available, but it’s also a big step up from the free plan. It’s just the thing for adding a gloss of professionalism to your website.
If you’re building an online store, you’ll need an ecommerce-specific plan. The cheapest is the $27 per month Core plan, but we’d recommend the $32 per month Business plan, especially if you really want to give your store a boost and take things to the next level. It’s not a huge step up in price, and it gives you access to more advanced features, making it perfect if you’re looking to grow your online store.
